A candle with the lid off is a dust magnet. Light that and you are burning household fluff. The first five minutes will smell of a bookshelf, not of Skye. Wipe it.
How
Dry microfibre for a light film. If it is greasy dust, a tiny drop of sunflower oil on kitchen paper, then a dry wipe so you are not leaving a slick. Keep out of the wick. If the wick is already filthy, trim it back to clean cotton.
Prevention is a lid. We ship with lids because Highland houses have peat, dog, and a weather system indoors. Use them. A year on an open shelf will not poison the wax, but it will make a sad first burn. Do they expire? Not really. They do get dusty.
