How to Get Candle Wax Off a Carpet

Wax on a carpet is a timing problem. If you spread it while it is liquid, you have a lake. If you wait, you have a disc you can break up.

The sequence

1. Let it set. Ice in a bag can speed it. Do not rub.
2. Break and pick. Fingers, a blunt knife, patience. Get the bulk up.
3. Brown paper or kitchen paper over the stain, warm iron, no steam. The paper takes the rest. Move to a clean bit of paper as it soaks.
4. Whatever your carpet cleaner is for the last shadow. Test a corner.

Hairdryer first is how you drive wax into the pile. White spirit first is how you drive wax and solvent into the pile. Do the mechanical bit first.

Prevention is a tray and a set candle. If you are still moving jars around the house while they are liquid, the carpet will win eventually. Care.
