Hand-poured means someone stood there with a jug. Machine-poured means a line did it faster. You can make a bad candle either way. What a small pour gets you is control: this wick, this load, this batch, this label, and someone in Ullapool who will look at a photo of your flame if it misbehaves.
What it is not
It is not a guarantee of purity, or of throw, or of a rustic personality. A hand-poured paraffin with a huge wick will still soot. A machine-poured soy with a well-tested wick can be excellent. Buy the burn, not the adjective.
What you get from us is the landscape range, soy-coconut, cotton wick, poured in small enough batches that we notice when a load is off. That is the useful meaning of hand-poured. Wax, The Crofter’s Year if you want the seasonal one.
