ToggleThe Boiling Water Method
Using the boiling water method is an effective way to remove wax from glass containers. First, fill a pot with water and bring it to a boil. Next, carefully place the glass container with wax in the pot, ensuring the water level covers the wax. As the water heats, the wax melts. Then, wipe the melted wax away from the glass using a cloth or sponge. This method is useful for removing large amounts of wax quickly and easily. However, handle the hot water and melted wax with caution to avoid burns.
The Hair Dryer or Heat Gun Method
The hair dryer or heat gun method offers a quick solution for removing candle wax from glass containers. First, melt the wax using the hair dryer or heat gun. Then, wipe the melted wax away with a cloth or sponge. This method works well for hardened wax that is difficult to remove. When using a heat gun, exercise caution as it can become very hot and potentially damage the glass container. Keep the heat gun at a safe distance from the wax to avoid overheating or fire. After removing the wax, clean the glass container with hot water and soap to remove any residue.
The Freezing Method
To use the freezing method, place the glass container in the freezer for several hours until the wax hardens. This process can take between two to four hours, depending on the jar’s size and the amount of wax. Once hardened, remove the jar from the freezer and gently scrape the wax out of the container using a butter knife or spoon. Be careful not to apply too much pressure to avoid cracking the glass.
As you scrape out the wax, it should break into small pieces for easy disposal. Wipe the inside of the jar clean with a paper towel or cloth, removing any remaining wax or debris. The freezing method provides a simple and effective way to remove candle wax from glass containers without causing damage or injury.
